I couldn’t agree more. I used to read her site all the time. It seems to be turning less interesting, and more personal – and personal, unfortunately, is boring. Particularly when the writer’s viewpoint is ignorant or uneducated on particular subjects at best.

Well, besides the fact that GESmith didn’t cite any sources (and neither will I, but I will bear that lack of support), women DID work in the 50s and 60s, mostly in the home, and WEREN’T paid for it. However, as they have needed to work AND get paid for it more so since the 50’s, they work EVEN more. However, note the differently labeled axes… the slope isn’t the same. The higher salary that women are earning today doesn’t exactly translate to the total salary increase from the 50’s… an increase in hours worked contributes as well. Things like labor unions are losing their popularity, and so is a limited hour workweek.

Want to know, what is propaganda? That digital-television-is-so-good-it-is-tomorrow’s-tv-and-digital-age campaigns is propaganda! There is so many pro-digital propaganda around and massive advertisement campaigns ongoing to convince people to like digital television. I guess I will also be liking digital television after getting a set top box, but think about it – maybe all these good words said about digital television are just an advertising stunt? However, I will never forgive Finnish broadcasting authorities their analog switchoff because it left more than 45,000 Estonians without Finnish television picture and me without ability to DX them.
